Tai Kanbara1898~1997 神原泰

KANBARA Tai (1898-1997) was a Japanese painter, poet, and art critic born in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, and a leading figure in the new art movement of the Taisho period. He began his career as a poet but expanded into painting, exhibiting at the Nika Exhibition in 1917 and becoming devoted to Futurism. In 1920 he published "The First Manifesto of Kanbara Tai," and in 1922 he co-founded the group "Action" with Koga Harue, Nakagawa Kigen, and others, later participating in the formation of "Sanka" in 1924. After founding "Zokei" with Yabe Tomoe and Okamoto Toki in 1925, he withdrew in 1927 and left painting to work at Toa Fuel Industry.
