Yasuo Jo1943~ 城康夫

Jo Yasuo is an oil painter born in Kyoto in 1943, known for realist still life paintings. He first exhibited and was accepted at the Kokuten, the public exhibition organized by the Kokugakai, in 1971, then received the Kokuga Prize in 1974 and the Associate Member Excellence Award in 1976, going on to a long career as a Kokugakai member. His distinctive compositions feature flowers, fruits, stones, and ceramics arranged on the ground and rendered from an overhead, photographic viewpoint, characterized by a serene and tranquil depiction of the objects themselves. In addition to oil painting, he incorporates classical techniques such as tempera and remains actively engaged in creative work.
