Yataro Noguchi1899~1976 野口弥太郎

Yataro Noguchi (October 1, 1899 – March 23, 1976) was a Japanese Western-style painter and member of the Japan Art Academy. Born in Hongo, Tokyo, he graduated from Kwansei Gakuin Middle School in 1920 and studied oil painting at the Kawabata Painting School the following year. He was first selected for the Nika Exhibition in 1922, traveled to Europe in 1929 and exhibited at the Salon d’Automne, then returned to Japan in 1933 and became a member of the Dokuritsu Bijutsu Kyokai (Independent Art Association). He served as a professor at the Nihon University College of Art from 1952 to 1970, received the Minister of Education Award for Fine Arts in 1972, and was appointed a member of the Japan Art Academy in 1975.
