Yukihiko Kurihara1951~ 栗原幸彦

Kurihara Yukihiko (born 1951) is a Japanese-style painter (nihonga) born in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture. After studying design at Hamamatsu Technical High School, he graduated from the Nihonga Department of Tama Art University and trained under Matsuo Toshio. He won the Grand Prize at the 2nd Chunichi Exhibition in 1980 with "Yujaku," was selected for the Spring Inten in 1984 with "Shoka," and was named an associate member of the Japan Art Academy in 1988. His works center on Mt. Fuji, cherry blossoms, dragons, and bird-and-flower themes, and he keeps live birds and animals at his home studio in Hamamatsu as references. He received the Shizuoka Cultural Encouragement Prize in 2000 and a Hamamatsu Artist Commendation the following year.
