Yukio Kodama1916~1992 児玉幸雄

Kodama Yukio (1916-1992) was a Japanese Western-style (yoga) painter born in Osaka. He studied under Tamura Takanosuke and was first accepted into the 24th Nikaten exhibition in 1937 with "Doll with Red Background." From 1947 he joined the newly founded Nikikai association and became a committee member. From 1957 he traveled repeatedly to Europe, becoming celebrated for his depictions of European plazas and markets-particularly in France-rendered with solid brushwork and shimmering color fields. He withdrew from Nikikai in 1973 due to illness and continued exhibiting through solo shows until his death in 1992 at age 75.
